Toolchecked is an independent directory of software and AI tools for salons, spas, barbershops, nail and lash studios. We help owners compare booking, payments and business tools based on what they actually cost and what they actually do.

Why we exist

Choosing salon software should not take a spreadsheet and a week of sales calls. Yet it often does:

  • Pricing is hidden. Many vendors don’t publish prices, or only show a starting price that few businesses actually pay.
  • Fees are buried in the fine print. Per-staff charges, marketplace new-client fees, card processing rates and SMS add-ons can change the real cost a lot.
  • Big directories go stale. Generic software directories cover thousands of categories. Salon-specific details are thin, and prices are often months or years out of date.

We built Toolchecked to fix that for one industry, done properly.

What we do differently

  • Every price has a source and a “last checked” date. We save a dated screenshot of where each price came from.
  • Data older than 90 days is flagged as stale and re-checked.
  • We calculate 12-month costs, including the fees most comparisons leave out.
  • Editorial scores can’t be bought. Paid listings and affiliate links never affect scores or rankings.
  • We cover AI tools for salons – a fast-growing category that most directories don’t track yet.

The data comes first

You won’t find team photos or personal profiles here. That’s deliberate. Toolchecked is about the data, not personalities. Every claim we make should stand on its own source, and you should be able to check it yourself.
