This Privacy Policy explains what information Tool Checked Inc (“Tool Checked”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use toolchecked.com, how we use it and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.
Who we are
toolchecked.com is operated by Tool Checked Inc, Singapore, which is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Tool Checked is an independent directory of software and AI tools for salons, spas, barbershops, nail and lash studios. For any privacy question or request, please use our contact form.
Information we collect
Information you send us through forms
When you use one of our forms (contact, report wrong data or submit software), we collect the information you enter, such as your name, email address, company name and message. Our forms are built with Fluent Forms, and submissions are stored in our website’s own database.
We use this information only to respond to you, review your report or submission, and keep a record of our correspondence.
Affiliate link click logs
Some links on our site go through a redirect address beginning with /go/. When you click one, we log the click so we can see which links are used and reconcile affiliate commissions. The log includes the link clicked and the time of the click.
Your IP address and browser user agent are not stored in readable form. They are converted into an anonymous hash using a salt that changes every day. This lets us filter out duplicate or automated clicks on a given day, without being able to identify you or track you across days. No cookie is set for click tracking; it happens on our server.
Click logs are kept for 12 months. Older logs are deleted automatically.
Technical cookies
Our website runs on WordPress and uses caching to load quickly. This may set technical cookies or similar storage that are needed for the site to work, for example:
- WordPress cookies – for example, for security and for logged-in site administrators.
- Cache cookies – set by our caching system (LiteSpeed) and our hosting provider’s content delivery network (Hostinger CDN) to serve pages efficiently and securely.
These cookies are not used for advertising or to build a profile of you. For details, see our Cookie Policy.
Analytics and advertising
We currently do not use any third-party analytics, tracking or advertising services on toolchecked.com.
If this changes, we will update this section before those services go live, describing which services we use, what data they collect and how you can opt out.
Links to vendor websites
Our pages link to software vendors’ websites, and some of these are affiliate links. When you leave Tool Checked, the vendor’s own privacy policy and cookie policy apply. We do not control and are not responsible for how vendors handle your data. Please review their policies before signing up for any service. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Respond to your messages and requests
- Review data reports and software submissions
- Understand which outbound links are used and manage affiliate relationships
- Keep the website secure and working properly
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the website, such as our hosting provider, and only as needed to provide that service. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions for as long as needed to handle your request and keep reasonable records, and then delete them. Anonymised affiliate click logs are kept for 12 months and then deleted automatically. IP addresses in these logs are stored only as a hash.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data protection laws such as Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR may give you the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Object to or restrict how we use your data
- Receive a copy of your data
To make a request, including a request to delete your data, please use our contact form and tell us which form or message your request relates to. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. Because click logs are anonymised, we cannot link them to an individual.
Children
Tool Checked is intended for business owners and professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
